Florida is one of the states that have Not merged their presidential and state primaries. On a Presidential Election year, presidential primaries and State primaries are scheduled to run on different dates

The candidate with the majority of delegates becomes the party's nominee for the presidential election.

The Democratic Party in Florida uses a proportional representation system based on the results of the Presidential Preference Election (Primary) for apportioning delegates to the Democratic National Convention.
In 2024, Florida's Democratic party will send a total of 250 Delegate Votes and 19 Alternate Delegates to the DNC national convention. Of the 250 delegate votes, 224 Pledged Delegate Votes (146 District-level delegates, 49 At-Large, and 29 PLEOs) and 26 Automatic Delegate Votes.

Republican Party Delegates Allocation
The Republican Party in Florida uses a Winner-Take-All system based on the results of the Presidential Preference Election (Primary) for apportioning delegates to the Republican National Convention.
Florida's Republican party will send a total of 125 Delegate Votes and 122 Alternate Delegates to the 2024 RNC national convention. 125 Pledged Delegate Votes (84 District-level delegates, 38 At-Large, and 3 RNC delegates).
The Republican presidential candidate receiving the highest number of statewide votes at the Florida Presidential Preference Primary is awarded all delegates (including the 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Florida's Republican Party) to the Republican National Convention.
