New Hampshire is one of the 48 states that have a winner-takes-all rule for the Electoral College. In these States, whichever candidate receives a majority of the popular vote, or a plurality of the popular vote (less than 50 percent but more than any other candidate), takes all of the state’s Electoral votes.New Hampshire is one of the states that do not require their electors to vote as pledged.Election Code: N.H. How Does New Hampshire Select Its Electors?
- Presidential electors shall be nominated by state party conventions. The names and domiciles of the presidential electors nominated by such convention shall be forthwith certified to the secretary of state by the chairman and the clerk of the convention.
When Do The Electors Vote?
- Electors meet in their respective state capitals on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December, at which time they cast their electoral votes on separate ballots for president and vice president.
