      Civilian Absentee Voting by Mail

      • Any registered voter in Oklahoma may vote by absentee ballot. It is not necessary to give a reason for voting absentee. Applications for absentee ballots must be made in writing. Absentee ballot application forms are available from all county election boards and from the State Election Board.

      • To be qualified to vote by mail-in absentee ballot, you must be:
      • Physically incapacitated voters and voters who care for physically incapacitated persons who cannot be left alone may vote by absentee ballot. These voters may submit their applications only by mail, fax, or telegraph. They are not required to have their signatures on the absentee affidavits notarized. They are required to have their signatures witnessed by two people
      • Voters in nursing homes in the same county where they are registered voters may vote absentee. They may submit their applications only by mail, fax, or telegraph. An Absentee Voting Board will go to the nursing home a few days before the election to allow these voters to cast their ballots.

      College Student Voting In Oklahoma

Students can establish residency in Oklahoma if they have an intention to remain at their Oklahoma school address for the time being, and they intend to make it their principal home. You may register in the community where you attend college and vote in city, state, and federal elections if your permanent residence is your school residence. You have the right to cast a ballot as a resident of Oklahoma regardless of your status as a student or whether you pay in-state or out-of-state tuition.

Students who lived in Oklahoma before moving elsewhere to attend school, and who wish to establish or keep their Oklahoma voting residency, should have no problem doing so. Like most states, Oklahoma allows students to keep their voting residency even if they move out of the district to attend school.

      Mover's Guide: Oklahoma

Under federal law, if you move within 30 days of a presidential election, you are allowed to vote for President and Vice President in your former state of residence, either in person or by absentee ballot.

If you moved to Oklahoma from another state, you must register to vote in Oklahoma to be able to vote. The last day to register in time to vote in the next election is twenty-four days before the election. If you moved from out of state, you may register to vote the same day you become a resident of the State of Oklahoma.

If you moved to a new address that is covered by the same polling place as your old address, you can vote at that polling place after confirming your change of address. This is true regardless of how close to the election you moved.

If you moved to a new address within the same county but with a different polling place, you can vote at the polling place associated with your old address after filling out a new voter registration application form and presenting your voter identification card.

If you moved to a new address in a different county, you should complete a new registration form to update your registration records.
