Registration Status

Consider yourself registered when- and only when- you receive an acknowledgment from your county clerk. Never assume you are registered to vote until you have received this acknowledgment. Call your county clerk and inquire about the status of your application.

Primary Election — September 8, 2026

State and Federal primaries are held on the second Tuesday in September of each even-numbered year to select the nominees of the major political parties for partisan offices - Both state and federal offices. NH ST § 653: 8

Important dates

  • September 1, 2026 — Ballots Available: Last day for Secretary of State to deliver ballots to clerks. Ballots shall be inspected by town or city clerk in the presence of at least one other legal voter and resealed for use on election day. RSA 656: 22 Last day Secretary of State may receive name of substitute candidate to be placed on ballot. RSA 656: 21
